Meet Our Instructors
Owner, Director, Jazz Director, Acro, Preschool, Ballet, BEd, CDTA Jazz Associate
Ms. Anita is proud to be celebrating her 30th year as a dance teacher. She has a teaching degree from the University of Calgary where she also studied jazz dance. She is a certified teacher with Acrobatique Arts, and is trained in RAD and Adapt. Many of Ms. Anita's dance students have moved on to become dance teachers, as well as professional dancers. Ms. Anita is known and loved for her fun, high-energy classes and she is looking forward to another great dance season.
Contemporary, Hip Hop
Having danced in Calgary from a young age, Ms. Megan has studied a variety of styles such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, musical theatre and west African dance.
She has experience performing in theatre and dance with companies such as Alberta Dance Theatre and Centre Stage. She also has experience with scenography and direction in a theatrical environment.
Ms. Megan is currently at the University of Calgary working towards a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Education, where she is also studying dance.
Megan is excited to start another year with the Instep Team!
Karen Dixon Brennan
Owner, Director, Tap Director, Hip Hop
Ms. Karen has danced since the age of three in Calgary and has completed her advanced levels of tap, ballet and jazz! She has studied many dance syllabuses and has performed in several venues around the city. She has participated in dance festivals throughout Alberta, B.C and the U.S. She has taught at various studios around Calgary and has been praised for her energetic, upbeat teaching style and her engaging choreography. Ms. Karen is very enthusiastic to share her love of dance with her students and looks forward to another year of dancing!

Miss Alexis has been dancing in all styles of dance since she was two years old. She has participated in various dance conventions, as well as dance events in high school. Some of the styles she has taken include: tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop and acro. Alexis has enjoyed student teaching with Instep for the past five years and is very excited to be joining the Instep Team as a teacher this year.
After taking some time away from the dance community to focus on family she is thrilled to return to her joy and passion for movement. Through her enthusiasm and commitment, she provides a positive and fun environment for her students and welcomes the chance to be on the Instep team to provide excellent dance training for our students.
She has twenty plus years of dance training and teaching experience and has performed at many different venues with several companies. Miss Michelle has worked under the tutelage of Artistic Director Elaine Bowman, Dancers Studio west, has completed the summer extensive teaching course at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. And had the opportunity to performed on the world stage at Opening of the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, to name a few.
Miss Michelle is excited to start another wonderful year at Instep.
Miss Leandra is one of Miss Anita's former students and has been dancing since the age of three. She has danced both recreationally and competitively and is trained in Jazz and Contemporary and has experience with Tap and Ballet. Miss Leandra has student taught at Instep Dance for the past six years and looks forward to being a part of the Instep community again this year.
Instep School of Dance Teacher Assistant Program
